    Andrea Tapia

“As a second year, internal transfer student, Target Your Future was one of the first programs to welcome me to McCombs. Transferring from another college into McCombs, I felt overwhelmed acclimating to the new environment. Through TYF, I got the chance to meet peers, upperclassmen, McCombs staff, and most importantly professionals in a small setting. I would definitely recommend the program because it provided me with numerous resources including career exploration and mentorship. Furthermore, I created lasting friendships and memories because of TYF!”

    Anuj Khandelwal

“Target Your Future blends everything McCombs has to offer - teamwork, mentorship and dedication - into an action-packed learning adventure. My favorite part was definitely the Corporate Sponsored Trek. Visiting companies is a great way to meet potential employers and learn about career opportunities.”

    Ezequiel Calderon Jr.

“Target Your Future was one of the most beneficial programs I was involved in that developed me professionally my freshman year. As a first-generation college student, I did not know much about life at the university level, especially life after college . The way that the program is structured is brilliant: it's a time to learn about what being a business professional really means and how we, as students, can shape it to best fit us.

Through TYF I created my personal views on networking, recruiting, and career paths. Thanks to the multiple panels and interactive workshops, I began to understand how to navigate my time at McCombs successfully to secure a bright future. The trek was most memorable for me because I got to see a “day-in-the-life” of several professionals ultimately clearing many questions and concerns I had. In addition, I met various recruiters and other company representatives that communicated a myriad of opportunities with their companies. I am very grateful for TYF as it played an instrumental role in helping me develop my connections and eventually led to two internships. I recommend all students become involved with the program – you definitely will not regret it!"

    Jackie Flores

“I will always attribute my success in McCombs to TYF and everything I learned from the program while serving as a student mentor. The etiquette dinner and corporate sponsored trek were by far the most beneficial components of the program for me.

These events offered the opportunity to meet professionals in smaller, more personal environments without the pressure and challenges that students encounter at the career expo and other similar events. I highly recommend this program to underclassmen because it provides an advantage in getting recruited. Many of our students also get recruited by our corporate sponsors, so it's a great way to get a head start on the internship search!”

    Khurram Kabiruddin

“Target Your Future is a fantastic avenue for personal development. The program’s motto of ‘Building Connections. Fostering Success’ exemplifies what the program is all about. As a first-year student, I joined TYF as a participant. Through that experience, I gained a lot of confidence about my career goals and recruiting came much more naturally to me. I returned to the program as a mentor and then led the program as the first Program Manager.

Throughout the years that I have been involved with TYF, I have developed my leadership skills, grown my network, and had a lot of fun in the process. I am a huge proponent of TYF’s Professional Mentor Program (PMP). Networking is not a buzz word; it is an actual skill. The PMP allowed me hone my networking skills while I connected one-on-one with a professional from industry. Learning about my professional mentors experiences was invaluable knowledge. As I begin my professional career, I feel confident that I’ll be able to take the skills I have gained and continue to apply them when meeting colleagues and clients.”

    Nick Navarro

“What really made Target Your Future beneficial for me was the unique combination of student mentors and professionals. The combination of these two resources made it possible for me to get a student perspective while learning what prospective employers were looking for in potential candidates. Making career decisions can definitely be daunting, but it was so helpful to be able to ask a peer or a professional for advice through the channels setup by TYF.”

    Rebecca Harrison

“TYF is one of the most influential programs I have participated in. Through it, I've learned the importance of networking, maintaining professional relationships, and building my personal brand. TYF offers various outside events, my favorite being the Etiquette Dinner, where you learn the nitty-gritty details of table manners.

I enjoyed being able to interact with professionals in a relaxed environment where we all learned skills that were both beneficial and entertaining. Through the connections I made in Target Your Future, I was able to secure an internship with a firm I love. I truly cannot emphasize how priceless this experience is. You'll meet amazing individuals, build important relationships, and get the inside scoop from recruiters. Having served as both a participant and a student mentor, I can confidently say that this is a program where the people truly care about you–and that is something I would encourage anyone and everyone to take advantage of!”

    Ryan Gray

“Being a mentor in TYF was a great experience. Though I was there to pass on knowledge, I learned a great deal as well. My favorite experience in the program was the company field trip to Houston. Networking on this trip helped me land my full time offer with Macy's. Plus, it was such a pleasure getting to know all the people in the program.”

    Shelby DeMuth

"TYF allowed me to understand and explore different business career opportunities each week. I increased my confidence with employers and my fellow peers through informational interviews and group interaction. Most importantly, TYF equipped me with the skills I needed to land an internship and full time job in my chosen business field. "
