Spend four weeks this summer in one of the world’s oldest cities with McCombs’ first Maymester. The Finance in Athens Maymester provides BBA students with the opportunity to take Business Finance (FIN 357) in a short and intense format. The program is complemented with a series of organized cultural excursions and professional visits.  Home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Athens is both historical and considered a global city with a large financial sector.

The Athens Centre is affiliated with over 20 American colleges and universities in offering diverse programs to suit American colleges' unique needs. While providing support to U.S. institutions, the Athens Centre strives to highlight Greece's rich heritage by organizing a series of cultural activities throughout Athens to complement the student experience.

Basics

FIN 357* Business Finance:  – Taught by UT faculty

*Please note, this course has not been approved to count as FIN 357H.  BHP students should not enroll in this program and should consider some of our other Short-Term International Programs which will satisfy BHP requirements.

Classes take place Monday-Friday. Final schedule TBD. Students are strongly urged to refrain from making weekend travel plans until receipt of finalized schedule. Absence from class will not be permitted.

What is included in the Total Program Cost?

  • Tuition for three credits (tuition for Maymester programs is part of the Spring tuition load. No additional tuition will be required)
  • Housing with UT students in Athens

Excursions

Weekday Trips

Cultural excursions provide students with an opportunity to experience the local flavor. Weekly cultural outings are coordinated by the International Programs (IP) office. These events are built into the program, and participation is mandatory. The excursions are designed to fit into the schedule and  don't interfere with courses or weekend travel. Depending on the year, weather and availability, excursions will vary on a yearly basis.

Tentative visits to the following are included in the program:

  • Acropolis, Acropolis Museum 
  • National Archaeological Museum
  • Company visits to global firms
  • Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, beach after visit
  • Day trip to Delphi: site and museum


Housing-Transportation

Housing

Participants will live  furnished studio apartments with kitchenettes, bathroom, and balcony, located 5 minutes walk from the Athens Centre.  The studios will be double or triple occupancy, and students will be able to request a roommate.

  • Must check-in to dorms: Saturday before classes start
  • Must check-out of dorms: Saturday after classes end

Transportation

From the Airport

Affordable taxis and public transportation are readily available to/from the airport to the Athens Centre. Additional details will be provided to program participants.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the end of your study abroad program.

U.S. citizens traveling to Greece

U.S. citizens do not require a visa.
