Dr. Stephen Walls received his BBA in Marketing from Texas A&M University and his MBA and Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin. He teaches a wide range of marketing courses in McCombs' undergraduate and graduate programs, including Principles of Marketing, Strategic Brand Management, Customer Insights & Experiences, Integrated Marketing Communications, and Marketing Policies. Dr. Walls also teaches Advanced Marketing Management in the Masters in Engineering Management program through the Cockrell School of Engineering's Center for Lifelong Engineering Education. He has received numerous teaching awards, including placement on The Faculty Honor Roll, Senior Send-off Favorite Professor, and Texas Blazer's Professor Appreciation, among others. His varied industry experience includes marketing, human resources, and technology management at companies such as Dell, Vignette, ibooks.com, American Airlines, and Wal-Mart. Dr. Walls speaks often on various topics related to marketing strategy and tactics, design-thinking for business innovation, branding, social media, and intergenerational marketing and management.

Financing New Ventures
Dr. Patrick Badolato is a lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business. Patrick specializes in courses offered to working professional audiences. Currently he teaches in McCombs' Executive MBA, Daytime MBA, Evening MBA, Dallas MBA, Houston MBA, Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Technology Commercialization, and undergraduate programs.
His teaching expertise focuses on Financial Statement Analysis, a case-based class that moves away from generic ratios and metrics and towards critical thinking in an effort to use an array of financial information to understand the past and form well-motivated predictions for the future; Financial Accounting, a class that emphasizes the importance of accounting's thoughtful and logical representation of business events; and Accounting Concepts and Research, a class that offers a deep dive into the business reasons and economic motivations behind US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
Patrick earned BS degrees in Accounting and Economics from Villanova University and a PhD in Accounting from Duke University in 2010. Prior to pursuing his PhD, Patrick worked in the assurance and tax practices for Ernst & Young in Philadelphia, PA where he earned his CPA license.
Patrick served as the consultant for the Harvard Business School’s Financial Accounting course in its newly developed HBX program and worked as a writer and contributor for Harvard Business Publishing's Financial Accounting Core Curriculum materials, a series of curated and adaptable readings that will offer a comprehensive and cost-effective textbook replacement for MBA audiences.
Patrick's research interests center around corporate governance, financial reporting choices and the use of financial information. Patrick's research has been published in the Journal of Accounting and Economics.

Jade S. DeKinder is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Marketing at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. Dr. DeKinder received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics with highest honors from Emory University and her PhD in Marketing from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Her research interests include market signaling, information asymmetry and uncertainty in buyer-seller relationships, salesforce compensation, and econometric modeling. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. She also serves as the Program Director for the Master of Science in Marketing program at the McCombs School of Business.

Dr. James S. Dyer occupies the Fondren Centennial Chair in Business in the Red McCombs School of Business Administration at The University of Texas at Austin. His research and teaching interests are focused on applications of decision analysis and real options to problems of risk management and capital budgeting, and he has published extensively on these subjects in various journals, including Management Science and Operations Research. He is the former Chair of the Decision Analysis Society Group of INFORMS, and the former Area Editor for decision analysis for Operations Research. He was awarded the Ramsey Medal by the Decision Analysis Society, and the Edgeworth-Pareto Award by the MCDM Society.
Technology Transfer in the Global Economy
Dr. Martins is the Faculty Advisor and a professor in the Texas MSTC Program. Dr. Martins conducts research and consults on the role of managerial and group cognitive factors in innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, change, and performance. His research has appeared in several leading management journals, such as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, and Organization Science, and has been covered in major newspapers such as the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune. He has won numerous teaching awards for his courses on innovation, entrepreneurship, and organizational behavior, including the Joe D. Beasley Award for Teaching Excellence in the MBA Curriculum, the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Working Professionals MBA Program in Houston, and the Fawn and Vijay Mahajan Teaching Excellence Award for Executive Education.
His consulting and executive development clients include Accenture, Coca Cola, FBI Crime Labs, General Electric, Lockheed Martin, McKesson, NASA, and Samsung.
Christopher Meakin is a member of the Business, Government and Society faculty at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. He received a B.B.A. in Management and Business Analysis from Texas A&M University, a M.A. in Legal History from Rice University and a J.D. from the University of Houston. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
Prior to joining the faculty at UT, Christopher practiced law at Vinson & Elkins in Houston where he represented clients facing a variety of business issues including corporate governance, securities regulation, contracts, and dispute resolution.
Christopher has served on the faculty of the University of Houston Law Center and the Jesse H. Jones School of Management at Rice University. Since joining UT’s faculty in 2001 he has taught courses on Negotiations, Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Law, Marketing Law, and the Legal Environment of Business. He is also a member of the Entrepreneurship Group where he teaches a course on legal issues involved in launching a new business. He has also taught in the Management of Technology Program offered at the Ercole Polytechnique Federale de Luasanne in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is the recipient of many teaching awards including the Faculty Honor Roll for teaching excellence in the fulltime MBA, Texas Evening MBA, Mexico City, Houston and Dallas\Fort Worth MBA programs and received the same honor at the undergraduate level at the McCombs School. Christopher has also served McCombs as an Assistant Director of the Business Honors Program and an Assistant Dean in the full-time MBA Program.
He is married and delighted to be the father of a twelve year old daughter and an eight year old daughter.

Dr. Melissa Murphy is the Founder and Chief Communication Coach of The Pitch Academy and award-winning teacher and scholar in organizational communication and technology at The University of Texas at Austin. She teaches business communication at the McCombs School of Business and is the long-standing communication coach for the Texas McCombs Master of Science in Technology Commercialization program. She specializes in business presentations and investor pitches by focusing on three key areas: 1) content, 2) visual aids, and 3) delivery.

Mike Peterson is a Managing Director at the Pemberton Economic Group and a Lecturer in the Department of Management at the McCombs School of Business. As a Lecturer at the University of Texas, Mike teaches graduate and undergraduate entrepreneurship courses that focus on identifying opportunities for new technologies, market validation, building a team, funding a venture, and landing the first customer.
In his role at the Pemberton Economic Group, he has conducted in-depth evaluations of over 30 early stage innovations with market potential of $7.3B+. Analysis includes market size, competitive intelligence, market interest and an assessment of risks and barriers to successful product launch. Prior to joining the Pemberton Economic Group in 2010, Mike ran a division for International Paper as a General Manager.
Mike is a Co-Director of the Startup Grind chapter based in Cedar Park, TX.
