Jamal Deek | Dr. Jaime Schmidt; Audit Committee Litigation

Jamal Deek
My research with Professor Schmidt revolved around audit committee litigation. Basically the research entailed examining the board of directors of hundreds of companies and identifying correlations between certain board member positions with company litigation in their tenure. I found the fraud applications to be very interesting - the research was based upon empirical evidence to ascertain where gaps in corporate governance might reside. Aside from the academic experience, working with Dr. Jaime Schmidt was an absolute pleasure. Sometimes I felt like my work was unsatisfactory, but Jaime was a great mentor and helped guide me in the right direction. I definitely enjoyed the opportunity to assist with her research and would advise anyone to get involved.
