Why IAU Florence?
Participants in IAU Florence program can choose from a variety of interesting and enriching courses in international business, marketing, management, management information systems, finance, history, Italian, and more. IAU employs a student affairs and academic affairs staff to advise, place, house, and otherwise support students. IAU's Florence Center is located in the historic Piazza della Repubblica. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants, this piazza has been a central point in the city since the Roman times, as the original site of the forum, and serving as the commercial hub during the Middle Ages. The center has beautiful views of the Duomo and Giotto's Campanile.

Academics

Learn about IAU course options

  • Many of the courses at the site above have been evaluated by UT faculty and are in the My Credit Abroad database. If you’re interested in a course that is not in this database, you need to send us the syllabus (in English) and we will have it evaluated.
  • Not every course listed in the My Credit Abroad database will be offered during your semester abroad.
  • After IAU sends us your transcript after the semester abroad ends, you will work with the BBA office to transfer your courses back to UT. You will receive transfer credit and the credit can count toward your degree requirements. The grades will appear on your UT transcript but will not factor into your UT GPA.
  • In your meeting with a BBA International Programs coordinator in McCombs, you will discuss which of your degree requirements you could satisfy on this program.

Housing & Transportation

Students in Florence will be housed in shared apartments that are conveniently located in the city center. Students may request roommates on the housing application form and IAU will do its best to accommodate such requests.

Note that air conditioning is not common in Florence, so it should be an expectation that this will not be available.

Apartments are furnished, fully equipped, and shared with other IAU students. IAU apartments are located throughout the city and are within convenient access to grocery stores, shops, restaurants, pharmacies, and public transportation. In the apartments, students will have access to ample and shared living space and a fully-equipped kitchen, wifi, and linens (bedding and towels included). Students may share their bedroom with another student, although each student will always have their own bed. No meals or laundry services are included with apartments, so students are responsible for all meal costs and preparation as well as laundry costs. IAU will host a welcome and closing dinner as well as a variety of other social gatherings where food is provided.

All program participants are required to live in IAU-arranged housing. All program participants will be required to sign and abide by the IAU Code of Conduct & Housing Rules.

Participants are responsible for all transportation costs including airfare and local transportation.

Visa & Passport Info

Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the end of the study abroad trip. Texas Global Passport Services can process passport applications.

U.S. passports are taking an exceptionally long time to be processed. If you are even considering a study abroad program and you do not have a passport (or your passport will expire within 6 months of the end of your program), you should apply for one now.

Unless you hold citizenship with an EU country, students going to Italy for a semester will need to obtain a visa.
