MSS in NYC

McCombs Success Scholars in NYC is a fully-funded May Term program hosted in conjunction with Wall Street for McCombs. It is open to currently enrolled MSS freshmen.

ABOUT MSS IN NYC

McCombs Success Scholars in New York City May Term program is offered in partnership with Wall Street for McCombs and is open to MSS freshmen who have an interest in exploring a career in investment banking and preparing for the internship recruitment process. 

 

The first half of the May Term session is a two week beginner finance and accounting boot camp in Austin, with technical classes covering introductory finance and accounting topics as well as behavioral interview preparation.

 

The second half will take place in NYC and be be comprised of multiple company visits. This will include financial services firms such as Evercore Partners as well as private equity companies such as The Blackstone Group. The format of those sessions will be focused on learning from leaders about their career progressions and insights into the industry. In addition, there will be multiple sessions covering various topics such as networking, business etiquette and ethics.

 

The program takes place in Manhattan, featuring fun social events such as Broadway shows or other activities.

PROGRAM COST

This program is fully-funded for all enrolled participants. The cost of flights, housing, company visits, cultural excursions, and instructional costs will be covered by the McCombs School of Business. Students will be responsible for meals and out-of-pocket expenses.

 

ACADEMICS

This is a non credit-bearing bootcamp program. Students will receive hands-on experience and training in lieu of academic credit. 

 

ELIGIBILITY & PRE-REQUISITES

The MSS in NYC May Term Program will be open to all currently enrolled MSS freshmen who have a strong academic record, solid analytical and interpersonal skills and interest in the subject matter. There are no course pre-requisites.
