Graduation with University Honors

Graduation with University Honors refers to Honors conferred upon Graduation to students who have displayed a high level of achievement during their University Career.

No more than 20 percent of the May graduating class of each college or school may receive honors, high honors, and highest honors.

Students in the Business School must have 60 In Residence Hours taken for a letter-grade in order to qualify for Graduation with Honors. Courses with CR will not count as part of the 60 hours required for Graduation with Honors purposes.

Percentage requirements are not applied to August and December graduating classes. The grade point averages established for May graduates are applied to the following August and December classes to determine honors, high honors, and highest honors.

The Colleges of The University of Texas at Austin including the McCombs School of Business do not officially rank students.  However, students who wish to calculate their approximate rank-in-class may use the table below.

The table shows the class rank for spring 2023 BBA graduates based on their cumulative U.T.-Austin grade point averages.  To use this table, locate the row that includes your U.T.-Austin GPA then read across the row to find your percentile ranking.  For example, if your UT GPA is 3.7500, you are ranked in the top 45% of your class.  This table illustrates why Graduation with University Honors is so competitive.
