Canfield BHP Freshmen Leadership Kick-off
Your experience with Canfield BHP starts the first weekend of school with Freshmen Leadership Kickoff. This is the official induction into Canfield BHP. The weekend retreat is designed to help you build teamwork skills with fun activities, and allows incoming freshmen to get to know their Canfield BHP classmates, faculty and staff outside the classroom. You will also meet the officers of the Honors Business Association (HBA) as well as your peer mentor who will be with you throughout your freshman year. It is a program put on for the students by the students to ensure you begin creating bonds that will last all throughout your college career and beyond.
Freshman Mentor Program
The Canfield BHP Freshman Mentor Program is a peer mentorship program designed to assist first year students with the transition to college life. All Canfield BHP freshmen are assigned to a mentor group.
The program was created in the spirit of building community among the first year Canfield BHP students and the sophomore, junior and senior cohorts. Peer mentors are chosen and trained to assist their freshmen peers in acclimating to the campus setting. Mentors meet with their mentor groups several times each semester to offer strategies for academic and social success. Mentors interact with freshmen through the BA 101H course and in outside activities.
Alumni Mentor Program
The Canfield BHP Alumni Mentor Network is a program that connects alumni to Canfield BHP sophomores and juniors. It is an opportunity for current students to be mentored by alumni based on similar academic and/or professional interests. Canfield BHP alumni come from a variety of professional fields and many go on to top medical schools, law schools, MBA programs, and other graduate programs.
Alumni mentors may provide advice to students on major and career exploration, career and/or graduate school preparation, professional development and balancing school, career and outside interest. Read more about the alumni mentor program.
Community BBQ
The Canfield Business Honors Program hosts an annual Community BBQ at the start of each fall semester. This is a great opportunity to catch up with your fellow classmates as the new school year begins. Besides mingling with fellow students, numerous company representatives come out to this event as well. Past sponsors have included Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Dell, BP, ConocoPhillips, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Walmart, Target, and more. Community BBQ is free for all Canfield BHP students.
